There are few places like La Mariposa. Places where the sun rises and fills the day with the expectation of polo games filled with fast turns, long passes, and runs to the limit of ones fears. To see Mariano play is to learn by example. To learn how to play chess on horseback at great speed. To play polo at La Mariposa makes one realize why the best horses and players in polo come from Argentina. If polo is the blood of La Mariposa, then Mariano’s mother, Buba, is its heart and soul. Buba, your sense of humor, your hospitality, generosity and warmth have made La Mariposa my home away from home in Argentina. It is hard to express how much this season at La Mariposa has meant to me, however it is safe to say that I will carry part of it in my heart until the day I will return.

After over a decade of polo, this is it. The ultimate polo place. Great games, fast and fair with an incredible teacher. Mariano, you’re a true inspiration. Getting back from a serious injury is not easy, but with your help it was easy. Of course staying in shape is hard with your mother’s marvelous hospitality, kindness and wonderful cooking. She is the sun around which this wonderful planet La Mariposa revolves.! I look forward to returning to this very special place many more times.
